Justin Nelson is an archaeologist, occultist and the vigilante Dr Fate. He is a protege of Oliver Queen and John Constantine. He is the latest member of the Nelson family to take up the mantle of Dr Fate. After his father was killed by Damien Darhk, he was trained in Magic by Nabu himself.

- Magic: While wearing the Helmet of Nabu, Justin Nelson as Dr Fate, the nature of Dr Fate's magic consists primarily of invocations meant to summon the powers of Egyptian Deities to his command. Although he can cast spells normally by drawing upon more obscure sources his craft is empowered when he reaffirms his spells with evoked power. Even without the helmet, he is still a formidable sorcerer, to the point where he can hold his own against Damien Darhk and even beat him.
- Flight
- Clairvoyance: Among the magical abilities bestowed upon Justin is that of Clairvoyance. Justin frequently has visions, whether of the future (precognition) or of things that occur elsewhere (retrocognition).
- Teleportation: With the Helmet of Nabu, Justin is capable of teleportation, both of himself and others, by invoking Min, the God of Travelers. He's also demonstrated the ability to banish others to a place by invoking Horus, the God of War.
- Eldritch Blast: Justin can summon blasts of destructive magical energy, he can empower these by invoking Menhit, the goddess of destruction.
- Electrokinesis: Summoned a bolt of lightning to strike his opponents.
- Energy Construct Creation|Conjuration: Justin is capable of conjuring powerful magical defenses that by invoking Wadjet, the goddess of protection, may increase in power. He can also restrain enemies with bindings of conjured iron.
- Healing; Justin has shown the ability to heal.

- Separation From Helmet: Although Kent is an accomplished magician and crime fighter, without his helm, he is significantly weakened.

- Helmet of Nabu: The Helmet of Nabu/Fate is an ancient, and extremely powerful magical object, when bonded with a person, grants the wearer magical powers and abilities. When taken off, the wearer will lose all their powers. It was created by the Ancient Sorcerer Nabu along with two other mystical items: the Amulet of Anubis and the Cloak of Destiny. The three items combined would grant the wearer the all power of the Doctor Fate. Justin has only the Helmet with him.
